I don't. O_o Pokemon was just a passing smidgen interest awhile ago when I got Fire red for free. I never even touched a pokemon card, but remember various people throughout my childhood in different towns I lived in flaunting their collections in those binders with the clear holders. Then there was the burst of Yugi-Oh for a year or two, and now Pokemon reigns again.
It was never even that to me! Something everyone bothered with cept me. First Pokemon game I got was Ruby back in 2003, only just got Gold and Yellow about a year back. Shame you can't transfer them to the DS versions somehow :<
It's funny how they are launching this game close to the DSi launch, even though the DSi isn't fully compatible (no GBA port= no transferring ruby/leaf green/etc.... Pokemon).
I must reiterate now how disappointed I was with the DSi's design. Omittance of GBA slot = stupid design. Most of the games I play on my old DS fat are GBA games.
No that would be terrible.
What would be nice is a proper new game that doesn't follow the old formula so strictly. The start and end are always the same! And 3D battles using the low poly stuff from Pokemon Ranch, but at a fast pacing like Ruby/Sapphire.
The 7 year old kid is too old for Pokemon. And you're just pathetic! ... lol ... j/k .. seriously though, every Poke' game is the same, and there's nearly no strategy to them. And the only action is walking around and reading dialogues, the battles are like a turn-based rpg minus any real strategy ... BORING.
You need to admit that you were brainwashed with that "Gotta Catch 'em All" mentality thrown at you by some large corporation bent on world domination and be done with it. Ever see that South Park episode? LMFAO
This one surprisingly looks neat though ... they swiped my platform ideas though, heh.
I still wouldn't buy it though, cause you know the battles will still be crap and the storyline about the same as the first Pokemon game.
Like Power Rangers and a billion other stale franchises, they should just let it die already and make something new.
Sadly, it's all about money and they brainwash the young over and over with this stuff, so it will never end.
The card game just took the Good old stuff like Dungeons and Dragons and totally crapped on it, threw some cuteness and flowers in there, then spun it off as something new. Just like the games, it should all burn in a huge bonfire, you don't need Poke'mon for a good creature style game. They ruined creature games imho.
Blood of the Ancient One, Seen only as Shadow, Faster than Lightning, Fierce as the Greatest Dragon, Nearly Invisible, Floating in a Dream, Entered through the Demon Door, Destroyer of Evil in a Realm with a Red Sky Scarred, Who could I be ?
I wasn't allowed to watch Pokemon or play the games or trade the cards when I was little (for good reason) but I still enjoyed my copy of Fire Red. There is definitely strategy to it, as anyone who has fought and caught legendary pokemon knows.
But I agree that it's been beaten to death. It seems more like a one-time coolness than an eleven or twelve or however many years-long cash cow. They need to just release one that can get new content online, so the pokemon fans would get variation but the market wouldn't be saturated. But enough craziness...

There's already some Pokemon MU*s, though a lot died quickly. Except for that one about yiffing pokemon.

I got Platinum the day it came out as a present from my friends. It's really good. I don't think that the games are boring or they are the same every time. The experiences are different enough in my opinion. The upgrades each generation gets are cool as well, such as the sexes in Gold/Silver, natures, abilities and contests in Ruby/Sapphire, and the new wireless features, global trade, and other things I don't remember in this one.
I too disagree with the idea that there is no strategy in these games. As OldManClayton said, the legendaries are a good example. Mainly because you only get one shot, because if they faint you can't find them again. Those that move around are even more challenging, because if you are too slow you can't even attack. If they use a move such as Roar to end the battle, you'll never see them again, and they can run away at anytime even when asleep or paralyzed. You also have to know the type managements, same-type attack bonuses, when to use items or recovery moves, how to raise and drop stats at the right time, the effects of different Pokemon abilities, and so on and so forth. If it didn't require strategy, any noob could just pick it up and beat any battle, but that isn't the case. You need to use the right type of ball, you get few Master Balls, and those like the Timer Ball are best in certain situations. Also remember that you can't just get strong Pokemon from friends because you need the right amount of badges to get it to listen to you. Just go to Bulbapedia and see how complicated this game is. How many Pokemon games have you played through entirely, MBK?
The storyline changes a bit, but it isn't really that important, and there's always stuff to do outside the story. The Platinum story is changed well enough from the Diamond and Pearl ones, even ignoring the Distortion World (which I'm not at yet). Gold was a sequel to Blue, and it had two places to travel in, with Team Rocket acting vastly different from the three years before. Teams Magma and Aqua were fighting in Ruby and Sapphire and didn't act exactly like Rocket. Now that I think about it, the plots aren't that similar beyond the fact that there is a team that wants to control the world. They all do it different ways, at different times. And in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum there are more story elements outside of the Team Galactic (that's what Looker calls them, "the Team Galactic") and more Galactic treachery that involves the Legendary pokemon. I like this game a lot.
