Wow! Great! Hopefully you'll be able to finish the game one day... Not that I'm saying you won't, it's just that I'm making an action-adventure game myself and I just can't see the end! So much details to think about...
Anyway, the only thing I see that should be fixed now and that hasn't been mentionned yet (I think), is that Sonic always turn around when he hit a wall. Kinda annoying, unless it's like that in the original serie (I couldn't tell for sure since I'm not a Sonic fan...). Oh, and hopefully you won't use Photoshop default motifs for the backdrops...
I met kirby on Hub software and he is one of my chat buddies and we talk about games and the click community.I told him about this site cause i knew he would be sucessful.
For the record: to do the dude who said Kirby did original graphics... those are ripped from the Sonic Advance games. *bleh* I advise against ripping where it's illegal; Capcom approves of it, but obviously the game is going to -look- rehashed.
What new gameplay elements are there going to be in this? That's the question I always ask. Simply recreating a game might be fun for you; but will indeed land bad reviews.
For instance I'm making a MegaMan fangame with my brother; using sprites from various MegaMan titles, the gameplay is drastically altered though; all enemies will be influenced by a second player, something that hasn't been done in any sidescroller much less MegaMan. It'll either save the game, or make it feel even more awkward. You should take those risks instead of going with mimickery.

Not all the graphics are from Sonic Advance, though the sprites and artwork (ie pose pictures during the character screen) may well be so.

Graphics arent everything, you know. The gameplay is what matters most to a game, even though a lot of people are fussy about graphics (unfortunately..)

Usually when something new's thrown into the formula people get rather fussy about that too.. I dont know about klik or fangames in that scenario, but it certainly happens in real life (Sonic Heroes throws team work elements into gameplay, which a lot of people I've known didnt think would turn out great). This is my first fangame and I havent really worked on an official klik game to bring to the public before despite my skills at coding with MMF, so I dont think it's that important.
Yeah Nintendo's official boards don't delete fangame topics *rubs hands* I shall soon unleash a trailer for my Zelda fan-game... I might be pompous enough to call it the first decent one =P
Kirby; no graphics aren't everything, and obviously they speed up the process, but I'd rather play a game with at least new graphics (not necessarily impressive) to keep a fresh feel, but again your gameplay should be able to do that.
Fan games are generally frowned upon by most klikers because whilst they had to come up with original Characters, storylines, gameplay, graphics etc you've been stealing all the graphics from some sonic rom . Fan games and ripping original graphics is just lazy if you want to impress come up with something of your own.
